poem without a name because the cat has it

Give me honesty, promise me
nothing and I will be happy.
Tie your tongue with a sailors knot,
rather than pledge what you haven’t got
in heart or hand, physicality forgotten
and truths so hard to find
in the maze of your mind, don’t
whisper in my ear, don’t
ever let me hear that you
asked to keep it from me.
Just don’t say it at all,
rather than keep up the ball
of pretence, one more fall.
