I miss you when I remember where you’ve been

Do you ever write letters not to give to people
or wake up to smooth jazz and Nora Jones,
words so beautiful we remember them twice –
I keep good company on wet July nights.
Catalytic dance moves and questions that make us smile,
I sing awfully loud every once in a while
when the table has too much alcohol and
the only obvious choice is to drink it all
or try to. I’m incredibly gracious for the way
you all dance away from worries,
and piano at two in the morning
stops me from mourning the sleep
i’ve somehow misplaced.
